Part 1: Guardian of the Marsh (GOTM).

Play-through going for 100% completion. This is my 2nd play-through of this game and it's been years since the first one. That play-through (not recorded) was on Xbox One and I played that on its release date (Day 1). It had some bugs, slowdowns in certain places and some crashes. I hope they patched those issues since then but since I have a better PC, I want to experience this game on PC this time.
-
This game's story is an even bigger emotional experience for me compared to the first game. The background music (BGM) is nice though few BGMs in this OST leave an emotional vibe towards me which I don't like but it's in a good way.
-
Let's just say I don't like trying to fight my body preventing tears coming down when something emotional happens and the music contributes even further to it. Example is in Final Fantasy VII (FF7), one of Aerith's theme plays when she gets...by Sephiroth and it STILL plays when fighting a boss battle after that emotional scene.
-
I like how past the beginning of this game you see some areas from the first game when flying past them in the cutscene before tragedy strikes.
-
I do a lot of wandering because I wanted to get pickups I think I could get before heading in the right direction. Also get used to me checking the map often because I want to get every pickup in this game. I wonder why we don't have a mini-map in some games that mimic Metroid's play-style?
-
It takes me a while trying to get used to combat since I just recently got used to Ori having Sein to attack in the first game. I like keeping my distance from enemies and range attack them usually. This game kinda forces me to not do that and attack up close. Or maybe I should say I have to adapt to a melee style?
-
I remember Howl jump-scaring the first time. I wasn't prepared for that but I like how Howl was your introduction to a boss battle since the first game wasn't like that. Howl I think is an automatic win assuming you did strike it some times since looking at the video I should've died when Howl bite me on my last life.
-
So getting Spirit Edge made me remember that attacks and such now have to be manually assigned to you by using either X, Y or B (controller inputs). During this play-through it takes me a while to get used to this since I'm used to B being my save point & healing while Bash being Y.
-
I like the Combat Shrines. I like the addition of the Spirit Trials too even though I'm not good at them due to my memory sucking at where to go and needing to repeat them a number of times until finally getting it.
