First time playthrough (FTP) of this game. Yeah wild eh? I never had this game during my Game Gear days long ago. My first game on the Game Gear was Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Even though I had Sonic Adventure DX on Game Cube and unlocked this game there, I never touched it...until now. It's not considered a blind playthrough because I have watched playthroughs of this game before so I have some sort of an idea of what to expect.

The music in this game is fine. Green Hill is a 8-bit version of what you hear from the SEGA Genesis/Master Drive BGM so nothing new for that. Everything else is a different BGM.

I wonder why the devs of SOP used the Game Gear version of this game instead of the Master System version. Players would see more around them compared to this version. The screen crunch makes this harder. I'm glad these games are in SOP...just think it could've been better.

Due to this I made SURE to collect as much rings as possible while "turtle-ling" my way through this game to get as many lives as possible. I also have continues too. Speaking of rings, you CANNOT pick up your ring when you get hit in this game so one strategy is to not collect every ring.

Now since this is the SOP version I can save and load up if I run out of lives and continues so I saved on areas where i saw myself dying often or seeing some bs sections but turns out I didn't need to load at all which surprises me.

It might be the FPS (frames per second) nature of this game but I SWEAR there are times I KNOW I jumped but it isn't registered and I fall.

In this game, the Chaos Emeralds are in certain locations. They aren't needed but it gives you a better ending. If you collect it and die, you STILL keep it. This playthrough proves that when I go back to the emerald's location thinking I had to go get it again.

I decided to have a video guide show me where they are. Bridge & Labyrinth emeralds are easy to spot but the others I'm glad I saw that guide because there's no way I would have gotten them on first playthrough. Thanks goes to @StickmanGuides for the help!
