Out There Somewhere Demonstrative Review
1Out There Somewhere is a 2D puzzle platformer where you use a teleportation gun to traverse environments. There are enemies, but they are mostly there for you to avoid death. The game starts out with a space shooter segment where you are supposed to lose to the boss. After that is when the game starts.
+ Fun and unique mechanic of the teleport gun which keeps your momentum for platforming challenges.
+ Awesome music.
+ Well-hidden collectibles which add power to your character.
+ Interesting achievements which are not limited to simple game completion.
- The fake out start can be frustrating as the opening boss seems beatable even though it isn't and you are supposed to lose. When you refight the boss at the end, you don't seem any more powerful than before.
- I wish the real final boss before going back to your ship was a longer fight or had a second form.
The game only takes about an hour to beat the story, but I had a lot of fun spending a total of 4 hours to get all the achievements.
