Outlast, first released on the 4th of September in 2013, is a psychological first person horror game created by Red Barrels Studio. In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the "research and charity" branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, the asylum has been operating in strict secrecy... until now. Acting on a tip from an anonymous source, independent journalist Miles Upshur, armed only with a camcorder, breaks into the facility - and what he discovers walks a terrifying line between science and religion, nature and something else entirely. Outlast is a true survival horror experience which aims to show that the most terrifying monsters of all come from the human mind.

Nowadays it can be incredibly difficult to stumble upon well-crafted Triple A / Big Budget horror tales anymore, primarily because most publishers as well as developers prefer to create average action survival nonsense targeted at mainstream audiences. Thankfully there still exist certain people within our world who have only one desire: To teach human individuals the true meaning of insanity. I am very glad to finally call this game my own. A worthy experience of nightmares in the style of Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
