5So, I decide to give manual gears a go and was pretty pleased when (eventually) I managed to shave 11 secs off my previous time and managed to place 2nd... That was until I realised that despite my improved time, there were still other people out there in YouTube land who were managing to finish 7 -9 seconds faster. Fuck knows how they do it - trying to gear drift at top speed just seems to make me crash more. I've seen videos of other people doing it and can only conclude that some sort of witchcraft or Voodoo is involved. Or it could just be that my 34 year old reflexes just aren't up to the challenge... I love this bonus track, but man the rubber band AI of the CPU rivals is a nighmare - no matter how well you do the lead rival is never less than a second behind you in the really tough bits, so even if you're doing a time that's 10 seconds faster than your previous best, you'll still get overtaken really easily if you slow down even a tiny bit - It gets a bit irritating on the expert part of this course, where the margin for error is so slim.
