When it comes to sequels, they're meant to build upon and improve things over the original. regardless of whether we're talking about a movie or a video game, it's super disappointing when a sequel doesn't measure up to the original. Here are 4 games across a number of generations that I think are overrated and don't live up to the originals.

Number 4
Wii Sports Resort
Listen, Wii Sports was a beast of a game, even for a tech demo. It was accessible to everyone, and it was just simple fun. Wii Sports Resort added in the Wii Motion Plus dongle requirement, but at least it was packed in. Even with new games, all anyone wanted was more Bowling, and the Bowling wasn't as good.

Castlevania 2: Simon's Curse
I remember beating Simon's Curse on the NES back in the day with the help of one of those VHS players' guide tapes. I hadn't played the original before Simon's Quest so I didn't know any better, but man looking back now, this is the ugly middle child. It's overly convoluted and complicated while being less fun. I think it looks great, but that's where the improvement on the original ends

Super Mario Galaxy 2
I know, I know, Mario Galaxy 2 is a good game, I don't disagree. The problem is that Galaxy 2 is just DLC for Galaxy 1, just not downloadable and in a disc instead! Galaxy 2 doesn't do anything really new or unique compared to the original, and Galaxy is one of the best games ever in my option. Mario Galaxy 2 suffers the underwhelming tag simply because the original was so brilliant. If Galaxy 2 came out first, then my opinion might be flipped, but as it stands Galaxy 2 is not as good as the original.

DuckTales 2
Much like Galaxy 2, DuckTales 2 suffers the fate of does simply because the original was so amazing. DuckTales 2 is fine in isolation, but it just isn't as good as the first game. When you Factor in the hefty pricetag that the sequel commands versus the original I think it just doesn't deliver. It doesn't do anything really different, it looks and sounds the same, which is great, but it's basically DLC.
