Overwatch has closed it's beta for now, but it will be returning in January with more high octane team based FPS action. Until then, Blizzard's Jeff Kaplan has discussed some of the methods they tried to execute for the game's progression system.

For a multiplayer FPS, nailing upgrades/progression is key, but Blizzard have a tough job of balancing that with the character swapping team based focus of the game.
