Overwatch: PC Gameplay #143 (3v3 Lockout Elimination Session #1)
When Overwatch commenced its 1st Anniversary event, it not only updated its 1v1 matches, but also its 3v3 matches.
In 3v3, Elimination had now updated to Lockout Elimination. In this mode, every character is still playable and a match is fully won after one trio gets 3 victories first.
However, for each round one, the team who one that round can no longer use any of the 3 characters that were picked to win that round among themselves for the rest of the match. So, for example, in Round 1, Team A is Soldier 76, Reinhardt, and Ana, while Team B is Reaper, Widowmaker, and Sombra. If Team A wins Round 1, none of the players in Team A can use 76, Reinhardt, or Ana, but Team B can still use any combination of Reaper, Widowmaker, and Sombra, or switch any of them out for someone else, if they prefer. But if Team B wins the next round whether they stuck with their first characters or not, the characters they won with are then immediately removes from their selection while Team A can still attempt to use the character they just lost with.
This just keeps going until a winner is fully decided. This means that in the potential fifth and final round, both Team A and Team B won't be able to use 6 characters out of the current 24. That's 25% of the whole roster gone.
You can perhaps use both your wins and your losses to your advantage in order to force the opposing team to potentially pick characters they don't like using as much, then you pick a character that you either also like or has a good advantage against who they may end up using for the next round.
