Overwatch: PC Gameplay #141 (1v1 Limited Duel Session #1)
As of this upload, the Overwatch 1st Anniversary event has already commenced!
Unlike the other events, which were either based on a real life event, a holiday, or the game's own lore, this event celebrates Overwatch's official release, which was May 23, 2016. One year later, the game has amassed over 30 million users across 3 platforms (PC, Playstation 4, & Xbox One), and has received rewards and accolades from all over the world for its diverse cast and presentation as team multiplayer First-Person Shooter that can compete with the likes of Team Fortress 2, and even more realistic FPS games like Call of Duty and Battlefield.
Since this is an event, regardless, it comes with its own exclusive content that can be found in its black Loot Boxes. For one thing, EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER in the game has gained new emote that involves most of them dancing, and some of these dances reaching out to other franchises and real life dances of old.
This event also reintroduces its 3v3 and 1v1 arcade brawls with new rules. 3v3 Elimination has become 3v3 Lockout Elimination, and 1v1 Mystery Duel has become 1v1 Limited Duel. Finally, the Anniversary Event added 3 new stages for these modes to join Antarctica's Ecopoint: Germany's Black Forest (the dark outskirts of Reinhardt's Eichenwalde), Egypt's Necropolis (Ana and Soldier: 76's current base), and Mexico's Castillo (which contains Sombra's hideout).
For now, this video will focus on Limited Duel.
--------------
Originally, in Mystery Duel, the game would randomly pick a character for both you and your opponent to use at the same time for a mirror match per round. In Limited Duel, this is loosened up a bit, and you can now pick one character out of a group of 3 that each round chooses for you.
At times, this seems like a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors where you pick a character whose super-effective against the character your opponent MIGHT pick, like Rock beating Scissors, but both of you won't know who you've chosen until the round starts. At other times, be you at a disadvantage, or if you and your opponent choose the same character, anyway, it's all just up to you learning how to outplay your foe. So in this case it would be more like Rock beating Rock or Rock beating Paper.
It also appears that a larger amount of characters are not allowed in this match, compared to Limited Duel which only banned Lucio and Mercy, likely due to their abilities and how some of them can completely overwhelm, or get overwhelmed by, some of the other characters that are allowed a 1v1 scenario no matter what.
Here's the list of all of the banned characters, or at least the one I've yet to see:
- Lucio
- Mercy
- Symmetra
- Torbjorn
- Bastion
- D.Va
- Winston
- Reinhardt
- Zarya
It appears that only the Offense heroes haven't been affect by this, meaning all 7 of them have a chance of being playable in this mode. After all, this is a compressed Deathmatch, and killing targets is what they all do best.
Just like in Mystery Duel, whoever wins 5 rounds first wins the whole match. However, if a match takes to long, then an objective point will appear in the middle of the stage and unlocks itself after 30 seconds. Whoever captures the point first is automatically declared the winner of that round, even if neither you or the opponent died.
It is possible fall out-of-bounds in the 3 new stages. This counts as a lost for you and a victory for your opponent. Of course, if the player outright quits and leaves, whoever didn't is the winner of the whole match by default.

I still play controllers even on PC. Hate me if you want for this. However, I ran into some technical errors with keeping my PS4 controller connect to my laptop. So I'm forced to just stick with Keyboard+Mouse controls until I manage to get it fixed a bit later. This likely happened because I was fidgeting with the controller's cord while playing this.
You'll even hear when it does connect and disconnect since I'm playing the PC version of this game off Windows 10.
