In ONI heat rises much faster than it sinks, and it spreads horizontally much faster than it rises. This is a form of convection because the heat is being transferred by the medium itself moving. The effect is more prominent at higher gas pressure and for less conductive gases, in this case I use 2000 g oxygen as it's the "standard gas mix" in ONI. Convection is insignificant for something like 200 g/tile Hydrogen, but is the dominant form of heat transfer in gases of reasonably high pressure over significant spans.
