This is part 5 in a tutorial series I'm doing for Oxygen Not Included. This episode shows you how to set up the fertilizer maker.

First off you'll need a good supply of polluted water. There is TONS of polluted water on each map but it is often spread out in smaller pockets in the slime biome. You can try to tap into one of these or build a containment area where you dump polluted water from lavatories, showers, air scrubbers and use that reservoir.

You'll want to put a liquid pump near, or at, the bottom of your polluted water tank (reservoir) and pipe it up to your fertilizer maker room. You want a sealed room to put your fertilizer makers in because they generate natural gas, which your dupes can't breath. In this video I happened to seal my natural gas geyser room and fertilizer maker room for simplicity. This saves making two gas pumps for two rooms that both have natural gas.

Once you hook up the polluted water pipe to the fertilizer maker and hook up some power you should be set. Enjoy the ample fertilizer!

This machine is really great because it's using up a waste product (polluted water) and generating power for you (via natural gas).

One tip: Build fertilizer makers close to your growing rooms. This will reduce the time it takes for your dupes to move fertilizer from the makers to the growing room. More free time to enjoy some frost buns and massages.
