The Padded Jaws are a gimmicky and nearly useless add-on that makes bear-traps not injure survivors when they step on them. In this state, trapped survivors need to be hit twice to be downed, which can actually be useful to build up stacks of Save the Best for Last and Remember Me. By combining it with the Honing Stone, you also make sure that survivors can't free themselves, bypassing the main weakness of the Padded Jaws.
