Here NewHouse remixed his very first SMEJ map for the SMEJ Jam! This allowed him to use brand new enemies introduced in SMEJ2 to test the player in new ways. NewHouse's maps tend to be non-linear and every encounter can be trouble for the player if they don't react with a good strategy; but if you learn them they aren't too difficult! This is being played on FTEQW with a custom shader I programmed.
Typically FTEQW has a very modern look, but you can adjust it to look very classic too! Here I am using its GLSL shader support, which allowed me to program a custom palette-like rendering and dither shader. This shader produces color bands similar to software-style rendering of old FPS games. But it also has an adjustable dithering option to add bayer dithering like old 3D graphics cards and the first playstation. Here I am running in 512 color mode with dither halfway on. YouTube compression struggles with this kind of classic graphics style, but you can get glimpses of the dither from time to time. I hope to publicly release this shader soon!
