SMEJ2 (Torrent of Impurities) is a special episode of Quake maps for me. It is put together by a group of Finnish mappers who welcomed me in and allowed me to compose its soundtrack. This is its fourth map, made by Newhouse, being played on the Quake source port of FTEQW.

This is being played with a custom retro-style shader I made, Bandither, which is hard to see in the YouTube compression algorithm (you can see some of it in full HD). This shader aims to give retro style color banding and dithering for classically dark games like Doom 64 and Quake. It has a non-linear skew to it which works well for these games. I also added unique types of dithering too such as motion noise and scanline. Here are the settings...

Color Levels: 8
Banding Curve: 5
Dither Type: Bayer 8x8
Dither Amount: 0.5
