SMEJ2 (Torrent of Impurities) is a special episode of Quake maps for me. It is put together by a group of Finnish mappers who welcomed me in and allowed me to compose its soundtrack. This is its first map, made by zigi, being played on the Quake source port of FTEQW.
FTEQW is the most feature rich and moddable port of Quake. Here I am using its realtime lighting and shadows mode, which works fantastic on this map. It doesn't work well for every map, but when it works, it works great. It also has GLSL shader support, which allowed me to program a custom palette-like rendering shader.
