Abstract: This will be an introduction to the SIMIODE online, HTML, interactive textbook, Differential Equations: A Toolbox for Modeling the World, by Kurt Bryan. The author will discuss the modeling-first approach to teaching differential equations used in the text, while faculty from a wide variety of schools will share their (and student) experiences with teaching and learning using this text. SIMIODE uses revenues from the modest-priced sale price ($39 USD) of this text as part of the Community of Practice sustainability efforts, but more importantly this text is an effort to support those who wish to use modeling to motivate quality learning in a differential equations course.
