Pantheon Rise of the Fallen is an upcoming indie developed MMORPG that wants to bring the spirit of old school MMOs back but modernize it in a way that we have never seen before with the freedom of exploration in brand new ways : Climb virtually any surface, drop ropes down to explore ancient chasms, find secrets and passageways with class abilities, content that is both challenging and rewarding. Not afraid to challenge the minds of their players Pantheon Rise of the Fallen is shaping up to be the MMORPG for grown ups! Remember how magical MMORPGs used to be? Visionary Realms has the recipe to make you feel it again...
-They are trying to make the streams quick-hits, faster and more heavy hitting information.
-Preproduced content mixed with the Devs being Live to discuss, STILL LOTS OF BEANS though
-What does COMPLETE mean : It means they are ready for ALPHA, the whole point of Alpha is to make sure things are fleshed out and working. However COMPLETE does not mean it is ready for LAUNCH, the goal posts are different for BETA and of course for LAUNCH
-IN PROGRESS FOR ALPHA BEING ALPHA READY: Vegetation is being added now after through HDRP pipeline. They are still going for performance here, not simply jaw-dropping. They are balancing between being beautiful but wanting it to run as smooth as silk. Screenshots look gorgeous.
-They are using a render processing technique in order to load large amounts of data 10s of thousands of in house assets in one quick punch
-CLASSES: Adam has been taking the design documents they have for these new classes, and taking them further. You will see some tweaks and ability lines as they are putting them in the client. Attributes are being tweaked as well, they are trying to get the combat to be just right, they want it to be a strong suit as it is something we do a lot in MMOs. They mention that the Cleric is heavily being worked on and they have done some work for the Paladin as well, WOOT! The fundamental design of the classes are not being changed, they are finding ways to push them further into their class fantasy.
-NETWORKING and the NETWORKING STACK : They showed a video with Kyle who explained that they have been building their process for networking outside of unity, however to make it most performant they are making progress to correct this. He shows the ping off and how quickly it can speak to the server to your pc, even with more objects and information on the screen. Basically, they are doing some coding magic that does not tax the server hardly at all, I mean it wasn't even barely showing 0.1%. Once again, the goal is for everything while playing to be silky smooth and the New Networking stack that we will all be playing on in Alpha is looking really good. This is insanely important and VITAL to the long term success of Pantheon, and although I may not understand it enough, it's not taxing on the system, it has insanely good performance and it's responsive, so I do know that for me as the player, that is really really really good for all of us.
-We did also find out that Kyle is actually a human and he does in fact have to sleep, or defragment a few hours a day, but he wakes up in a sweat to continue working on the Network Stack and keep the progress going.
-Material Library - They showed off some really cool-looking materials. So this can be used for items to make them unique but also for various textures in Terminus. They hid the real names so there is still a mystery. These are all built in-house and they look amazing. You have to use your imagination and look at these textures and think of them as Armor pieces, weapons, perhaps rocks and mining nodes, buildings, structures etc. They showed off quite a lot of them and they look really really really good. They want you to be able to see it and know what it is and be able to identify the material right away. They want there to be an identity to items. Very impressive.
