Two things stop me from awarding this game as a 'hidden gem'. Firstly, the game is very confusing, it could take someone more than 2 hours of playtime to understand how the basic foundation of the gameplay works. This could lead to some players giving up and refunding based on Steams 2 hour refund policy. Secondly, the game one-shot killed me by an enemy on either level 1 or 2 which seemed cheap or unfair. So, makes me wonder what to expect later in the game. I enjoyed my time with the demo and feel I understand enough now to give the full game a good go.
