Papercraft Legend of Zelda Intro Theme with two PO-128 Pocket Operators
Without question, The Legend of Zelda had some of the best video game music of the 80's and both the title screen and overworld themes are among the most recognizable tracks in all of video games.
Here I cover the title screen and intro theme using two PO-128 Mega Man Pocket Operators. I just couldn't cover the track well enough with only one PO-128 and even still, I had to make compromises to the arrangement due to the 16 pattern limitations of all Teenage Engineering Pocket Operators.
I added some papercraft animations with simple lighting effects to try to capture the excitement I felt as a kid when I would boot up the game. The triforce was cut from a shimmery piece of card stock. I covered a flashlight with a piece of tinfoil that had a triangular cut-out in it and then used that from a distance to mimic the glowing changes in the triforce. The flowing waterfall is all moving paper. And it took a stupid long time using an x-acto knife to carefully cut out the green vines, the thin sword, and the word Zelda.
The modifications to the item scroll were all created in Photoshop and incorporated as part of the prints.
