So, exploring our previous employer's internal data server. If you think this looks... somewhat on the trippy side, remember that this is supposed to be a virtualisation of Vector's server environment. (Ok, so it is a bit more lavish than I would normally expect to see, but that's beside the point!) The rest of the game will look more normal.
Another thing I want to point out before we get too far into the game: While the translation is much improved from previous games, it's still not perfect. So, yes, they still use weird turns of phrases, and some odd choices of words - but it's a step in the right direction. To my knowledge, Xenoblade was essentially spotless in that regard. Anyone know differently?

While Miyuki and Canaan count as guest characters, they will actually spend rather a lot of time in the party - hence they need to learn a few techs and ethers, as you should see on the post-battle screens.
(And I have Shion wear her bonus outfit for now because it's simply far superior in battle compared to the other starting equipment - low defense boost, but MASSIVE break limit bump! Later in the game, you're going to have wet dreams about that kind of thing, I kid you not! A-anyway, when I can start using shops - they're back for this game, yay! - I will quickly replace the lab coat for better armour.)

But - wow! I thought Episode 2 had some pretty panorama views, but this? Sweet! And just wait until we get to Second Miltia - you're gonna LOVE that!

As for their explanation of the UMN... isn't that awfully similar to the Mass Relays in Mass Effect? Yep, the Mass Effect universe have many commonalities with the Xenosaga universe - only, Xenosaga is trippier, and has nothing to do with EA. :-D
But isn't it just a little strange that a GNOSIS would pop out as a guardian entity in VECTOR'S server? I mean, there is the Gnosis Terrorism thing, that was carried out from a part of the UMN that Vector directly control, and Gnosis have reportedly been sighted randomly all over the UMN - but HERE of all places?
(Heh, also watch me totally dominate this Sigrdrifa and Break its nads!)
