In this Path of Exile 3.0 guide I go over how to craft each type of Strongbox for the best possible currency returns - taking into account the expected returns of each box and tailoring investments to that. I get asked all the time, which boxes should I Alch, which should I Vaal and why? This should answer those questions.

Remember that strategies must adapt a bit to accommodate for changing values of items and currency in each Challenge league. For example, in the past Gemcutter's boxes where worth crafting as skill gems could have high value - but now with Gem vendors and the Labyrinth providing quality gems they are almost worthless. In Harbinger League cartographer strongboxes are worth a lot less as well because of Harbinger and Horizon orbs making map progression and sustain a lot easier. Keep things like this in mind when aplying your strategy.

That said, these strategies should remain stable for the forseeable future and have been developed over many leagues of play.
