A uniform rope of linear mass density lambda is suspended from the ceiling with the help of a light spring of force constant k. In equilibrium, a length lo of the rope is in air and rest in a heap on the floor as shown in the figure. Height of the heap is negligible as compared to the length of the rope in air. If the rope is pulled down slightly and released, find angular frequency of ensuing oscillations of the rope. Acceleration due to gravity is g.
