Three identical blocks A, B and C are placed in a line on a frictionless horizontal floor. The blocks A and B are connected with a light spring of force constant k and the block B and C with a light inextensible cord. Initially the system is motionless. The block A is given a velocity u by a sharp hit towards the block B. When the blocks N and C collide, a sound band is created. What should the minimum length of the cord be in order to create a sound bang of maximum loudness ?
