While I'm still having problems to get the finances back to where they belong to be, I'm also discovering why that happens. And it's multiple problems causing it.

One of the problems is the lack of food - and in particular: grain - and beer the cities are having. Grain is being brought in, but in too low quantities to keep the population fed enough. So they're slowly leaving, creating some jobs, which attracks new beggars, who then take the jobs, which then don't get enough grain and so on.
On top of that some of my more wealthy focused goods are running in a shortage too, because several of my vineyards are outside a city wall, while that city is under siege.

Then there are the pirates that have grown more bold over time, attacking my convoys; which then need to be repaired after I won the fight, but that also means the supply is paused for a while.

And eventually there's a convoy not sailing away at all. Instead it just loads goods, waits a day and unloads goods in its starting city.

But above all, the pirates are a pain in the butt, so I've been using each and every attack on my convoys to sink or capture their ships. On top of that I did several missions to "avenge the brother", so there's lots of fighting in today's episode.
