PC - The Sims 2 - Custom Video Game Clips demonstration (w/ CC)
A showcase of replacing clips of video games within The Sims with your own custom ones.
As explained in the ReadMe, the videos are placed in one of the folders related to the games within the game. For the base game, they are bus, sc4 and ssx, and for Freetime, they are cnc3, fifa, mysims, spore and SW. Most of these folder names do sound obvious, except for SW, which is actually The Sims 3, for those who are curious. Unlike the Broadcast clips which can have any name, the custom clips for your game though have to be named according to the Readme, like for instance, for custom game clips for SSX, the clips are to be named ssx_INTRO, ssx_ATTRACT, ssx_P1WIN, ssx_P1LOSE, ssx_P2WIN and ssx_P2LOSE. the INTRO clip shows up when you boot up a game, followed by either one of those WIN or LOSE clips, which will either show P1 or P2, depending on if there are one or two sims playing.
As for the clips themselves, as before, they are in a MPEG-2-coded AVI format and can be on any size like 256X256 to even 512X512 and 30 fps at max, despite what even the readme and some sources say 128X128.
I will be doing a Custom Arcade Game Clip demonstration later on.
For this preview, I decided to use footage of the PlayStation 1 racer Porsche Challenge that I recorded straight from the demo included on Demo One - Version 5. I also used the Sony BIOS sequence as the game's intro for some authenticity.
The console used in this footage is the SimStation, courtesy of BlackGarden of TSR (Yes, it may be a paysite to many, but at least it does offer you free downloads, at the expense of some of your time of waiting for download, unless you have a VIP membership of the site).
