This was essentially, the computer that I had from 1994 to 1997. I had a Pentium 100/66, Windows 3.1, Dos 6.22, 16 mbs of ram, 750 mb hdd, 3.5" 1.44 mb fdd, 5.25" 1.22 mb fdd, Trident video card, 2X CD-ROM drive, and a Sound Blaster 16 sound card. I upgraded the ram from 16 mbs to 64 mbs in 1997, I think they edo rams. I got a Rockwell 33.6 baud parallel port modem for this in 1996, and I used it for AOL Online.

This was the first computer I used for the internet. The internet was farily primitive in 1996, you didn't have the bandwidth like you have now. If you wanted to go to the internet back in the mid 1990s, you needed to get a ISP service, like AOL Online, Prodigy, Compuserve, or other ISP services which enabled you to connect to the internet. Later on in about 1998, you had free ISP services, like Netzero, except there was a advertisement bar when you logged on. Basically, Netzero was paid for by advertisements, so you didn't have to pay a monthly fee of $20 to $30.

Windows 3.1 was a 16 bit operating system, but it ran Dos games much slower than using MS-DOS 6.22; however, there were games specifically designed for Windows 3.1 which could not be run on MS-DOS 6.22, like Civilization 2. If you wanted to run Dos programs, you would go into the Dos shell and run them through MS-DOS 6.22.
