This has got to be true to the actual computer hardware used in 1990, it is better than Dosbox 0.74. From what I can remember, this is exactly how Crime Wave ran in 1990. This game used internal PC speakers to make sounds, and it was quite good at the time. If you compare this to other games that used PC internal speakers, it was light years ahead. Access Soft was known for this, they did it in Mean Streets, Count Down, Martian Memorandum and other games they made.

This game was a rough copy of NARC which was a popular arcade game at the time. This game plays incredibly well for a game of this type on a PC. It is a bit choppy like PC games were in this genre. Never the less, it is still very playable. This game for some reason does not have the cut scenes, and that is a real pity. This game is about you rescuing the president's daughter who got kidnapped by a sinister crime organization. Your job is to rescue the president's daughter with an arsenal of weapons. This game cost about $39.99 when I got it in 1990, and it was pretty much in most mainstream PC gaming magazines.

PC and PC gaming magazines at the time were widely used to advertise the latest software and hardware the industry released. Since we didn't have internet back in 1990, magazines were the media format which connected the PC and gaming industry. There was a lot of advertising in many PC gaming and gaming magazines at the time. In PC magazines, like PC World almost 1/2 of all the content in the PC magazines were advertisements of some sort.
