[PCXS2] Devil May Cry 1 speedrun fun (The Invincible Super Sparda)
This is a New Game+ Easy (Auto) speedrun of Devil May Cry 1. For obvious reasons, this run has too many disqualifying elements to be a legitimate speedrun submission; for starters, the use of cheats (the Sparda costume cannot access Infinite Devil Trigger without cheats, and full on invincibility to everything but environment hazards like lava is also most certainly a disqualifying factor), playing on an emulator (out of necessity due to the cheats not being applicable on other platforms), and also no control input display (previously not required until a re-evaluation of one particular DMC1 speedrun resulted in a mandate that the control input display must now be added to DMC1 speedruns there-onwards). As far as speedrun.com is concerned, the submissions must be based on a New Game fresh; there are no categories made for a New Game+. Since this run is purely for fun, the aforementioned aspects were not taken into consideration.
Easy (Auto) was the difficulty used for this run for many reasons; fewer mandatory fights, easier enemies to deal with, and no buying limits for items (hello, Holy Water spam). There is an annoying aspect that comes with the (Auto) part of the difficulty, and that is Dante being forced to shimmy after every on-ground and aerial-to-ground action if he's not attacking/shooting away constantly, though you can sort of mitigate this by jumping out of it. That being said, I do mess up a couple times (you will be able to spot those moments very easily) despite all the perks that Easy (Auto) comes with. In the end, I'm satisfied with finishing the game in under 38 mins (43 mins real time).
