Persona 3 Reload - Tartarus | Part 2
7Now we get to actually get to some gameplay and explore the first few levels or Tartarus. However it's still very much a tutorial section until we leave and comeback next time after some more daily life stuff.
You start to notice some problems with P3 pretty quickly running around Tartarus. And it's that the game doesn't really have any proper dungeons. It's all just randomized floors on Tartarus comprised of the same couple of assets. Granted, when you get to a new block of Tartarus, there's a pretty noticeably different design, but it's still just going through randomly generated rooms. Pretty repetitive, with a lot of sub-bosses that are mostly just big stat sticks with maybe a gimmick or two to them. I wasn't expecting the to make major changes to P3's gameplay and dungeon design but...I really wish they did. It's a big disappointment coming off of Persona 5's distinctly unique dungeons and even Persona 4's.
But the gameplay is still solid and it helps with how smooth it all feels. They do succeed in making it feel like an "updated" P3, but that's kind of the problem in that it's just an update and they didn't really do anything new with it. That said, I'm not very far into the game right now, so maybe it'll have some surprises for me later.
Oh and the music is still kickass. Remixes are good too.
