The beserker is a pretty meh base class by itself. The weapon selection is meh, the normal armour is trash, and most of the early abilities are unispiring (who cares if you have a small damage reduction at close range if you're wearing tissue paper and everything kills you anyway?)
But the Beserker is saved by its level 6 and 7 perks, including Adrenaline rush, which stands alongside rapid clearance as one of the most abusive perks in the game.
Not a good base choice, the beserker comes into its own as a later game cross class that you can use to bolt psychotic adrenaline rage to other classes. Like with Synedrion's infiltrators, the class only really reaches its potential when the Phoenix project steals the idea from its original creators, horribly perverts it, and turns beserkers from close range idiots to mega-armoured machine-gun wielding monstrosities capable of gunning down legions of foes with the finest technology humanity has to offer....just don't tell the Exalted.
