The Goblins are gone (booo) to be replaced by great human communion mages (yay) but they continue to manipulate the crap out of the poor skratir (boo) which results in the now weaker Skratir being cheaper to buy (yay)

Ok, I'll stop now.

LA Utgard is a swansong for the Norse giants, incapable of organising into a cohesive nation state, their magic continues to fade as the Skratir cling on to the old (and fading) hope of resurrecting their ancestors. The Niefel Jarls are now entirely out of reach, the blood repertoir is weaker than it's ever been....but the communion game reaches new heights of efficiency with the addition of the Seithkonur who also give the giants something they've never had before...someone who is both good at reading books, and cheap to boot.

Personally, I think the Middle Age incarnation is stronger, but I still have a soft spot for this hybrid nation that combines some of the best parts of humans (cheap communion mages) with some of the best tools giants have.
