In this part, Angel Starr tells the dramatic truth behind the SL-9 case: the prosecutors faked evidence to get the suspect executed, and when the falsified evidence was discovered, the people who got punished were the detectives on the case, not the prosecutors (these detectives being Angel Starr, Jake Marshall and Bruce Goodman).

Ema asks if Angel Starr is dating Jake Marshall, and she is happy to learn that the answer is "no". She also finds the evidence room on a map, so she and Phoenix go there. Unfortunately for them, the door to the evidence room is locked, so all they can do is look at the guard room.

Our heroes then meet up with Detective Gumshoe, who is saddened to hear that he's not getting a free steak lunch. Aw...poor Gumshoe! He tells our heroes that the suspect for the murder in the Evidence Room has been arrested, so Phoenix and Ema go to see who it is...Officer Meekins! Phoenix jogs the officer's faulty memory by showing him the victim's ID card.
