The day of the trial has come, and the kidnapper has sent them a "gift" which will come when the trial starts. As the trial begins, Franziska is....not at her bench. One of the bailiffs rush in and says that she was shot on her way to the courtroom! This must have been the "gift" he mentioned. However....in her place, making his courtroom reappearance in over a year, Miles Edgeworth takes the prosecution bench for the trial.
The trial proceeded as normal, though it had to take some motivation for Gumshoe to explain the case....and Miles to maintain composure when Oldbag comes in (or as he calls her, "The Wicked Witch of the Witness Stand".) She was waiting near the hallway, but not for Juan....but for Adrian Andrews. Turns out she was also the one who stole Lotta's camera and the note inside too...and one of the photos Lotta took shows the samurai walking out of the room. While Edgeworth argued it was the defendant, Wright thinks otherwise...as the pants were sagging along the ground. Matt wouldn't be that short of a guy, so it wasn't him.
Wright decides to indict Adrian Andrews for pinning the crime on Matt...but Edgeworth was unfazed. Why? He already knew beforehand, and she was already slated to be the next witness. The fight's only just begun....
