As soon as the trial resumes, the topic of the bear comes up. Adrian reveals that the bear...is actually a kind of jewelry box, custom-made to be taken apart like a puzzle. What mattered was what was inside the bear itself....and lo and behold, it was what everyone was searching for: Celeste's missing suicide note.
Edgeworth managed to get a 30-minute reprieve because of the note's legitimacy, but after getting a call from Gumshoe...de Killer escaped. However, he managed to leave a few items behind. Not wanting to wait for forensics, he swiped them and pulls out all the stops to try to get them to court. Unfortunately...he ends up crashing. Just when hope seems lost, Wright remembered something: Franziska was tracking him earlier, so perhaps she could assist with that (or so he hopes).
But...now he's doing what Edgeworth once did, and contemplating leaving himself. But Edgeworth tells him that "whether you did your job well or not...that can only be seen after the verdict has been decided."
