biography of the project in progress
Erick Morillo was one of the most influential and recognizable DJs and house music producers from the 1990s to the early 21st century. He was best known as the creator of the hit "I Like To Move It" under the alias Reel 2 Real, which gained worldwide popularity, partly due to the "Madagascar" movie series. Morillo was also involved in numerous other musical projects, such as Ministers De La Funk, The Dronez (together with Harry "Choo Choo" Romero and Jose Nunez), and Li’l Mo Ying Yang.
His work was not limited to music production. Erick was also a remixer for artists like Whitney Houston, Basement Jaxx, and many others. His debut album "My World" (2004) featured collaborations with Puff Daddy, Boy George, and DJ Rap, highlighting his versatility as an artist.
In 1997, he co-founded Subliminal Records with Harry Romero and Jose Nunez. The label quickly became synonymous with funky and soulful house music, earning global recognition.
DJ Career:
Morillo was known for his intense activity as a DJ, performing up to 30 shows a month in various parts of the world. His legendary Subliminal Sessions parties at clubs like Pacha Ibiza and Ministry of Sound attracted crowds of fans. He was one of the few American DJs to secure a residency at Ministry of Sound.
Return to the Scene:
After a brief hiatus in his career, Morillo returned to the scene in 2014, playing at events such as Space Ibiza. In 2017, Subliminal Records was relaunched, focusing on both classic and new releases in house and techno music.
