I meant to beat this all the way back in 2021 after my original completion of “Plasma Pulse II” but ultimately stalled it for 4 years and here we are. I struggled with this level little too much to my own liking but that has been a common theme with every level I touch nowadays. Personally I feel like this is a downgrade from the previous entry to the series. Both the decoration and gameplay are somehow little worse than before and none of it is balanced.
The first part ate most of my attempts while learning the level but it gets consistent. Then we still have a long predrop with totally free parts from 10% to 28% which is so out of place. This level isn’t even that long yet somehow it felt like a drag to play from 0%, oh I wonder why. Then the level gets good though! 28%-57% is the best part because it’s both difficult and fair plus it looks decent. Then pretty much all of the difficulty is packed into 57%-62% and 68%-80%, with 63%-67% in the middle offering a little break. I can’t even describe how much I hated the UFO, the slopes are so unnecessary and the pink orb and blue portal clicks are so precise compared to anything else. The cube part is just hard but 78% is the worst thing ever. The teleport portal doesn’t align with the upcoming gameplay at all and the orbs before that are also part of the problem. I had to look this up because this part took way too long to figure out but it still didn’t help because I didn’t find anyone who had struggled with this part or complained about it. I died here total of 3 times and what should have been a victory attempt ended up crashing into 97% spike.
“The ending is free” I said… And looking back at it now this is the funniest completion I’ve ever had. This could have been even more tragic with 98% death but luck was on my side. To explain what happened at the end of the level, I had one button assigned to “esc” on my SayoDevice, I hit my last inputs so hard that it somehow registered the other button and paused the game. Luckily I still had just enough space to unpause and quickly do the last jump again just in case the game didn’t register the first click which it seemed not to.
Overall I’m glad to have the original trilogy finally done. I don’t usually talk about any upcoming projects or levels I might beat but I might one day go for the final level in the series. That would be a massive jump in difficulty for me so no promises or anything but we’ll see how far we can go.
