In this video, I install Mac Os 7 onto my Amiga setup, using a PPC CPU, but also with a stock A4000 040, to see if I can get two games working. I also try to install Mac OS 8, but without much luck.

Narrated: 30th June 2023.

I remember using Shapeshifter around 1994, and also using PC Task, to emulate the PC and MAC on my 50mhz 030 machines (I moved from an 030 A500 to an 030 A1200). PC-Task ran fine, but I never managed to get Shapeshifter running smoothly. Cut to 2022, and I'm still trying to make it work, all these years later. Eventually I gave up, and discovered Basilisk II - which seemed to do a much better job. But then I got stuck on the screen modes. The screen modes tell the software what kind of Mac you are running. So moving to a custom screen mode is not supported by most games; which will either refuse to install, or go to a blank screen. Finally I found a screen mode which seemed to work with everything, but the OS defaulted to Black and White, (which is very odd), and I didn't know it was possible to switch to colour mode. After two months of trying, I finally got two games to run. Golf uses the PPC, and is stuttery due to bottlenecks with the software emulator to maintain a frame buffer, and Indy Car is just with a stock 040, which seems to play the game fine at full speed, and without much sound lag or frame juddering. So the final footage I recorded was me playing Al Unser's Indicar Racing with an 040, which was shot and edited just before I started the narration.
