PC Engine, a.k.a Turbografx-16 - was made by Hudson Soft, and released in 1987, which was way ahead of it's rivals in many ways. It ran on a 7.16Mhz 6502 clone cpu, with a 16bit GPU, to deliver 482 colours on screen, from a palette of 512. So let's check out this demo PC-E emulator.

So I'm not sure if this demo emulator was ever finished, but some games work much better then others. I think the maker just ran out of time or enthusiasm for making it 100% compatible with AGA. The technology to emulate the various bitplanes is possible, it's just that the Amiga can't have independent palettes per layer like the PC Engine can, it must use a shared palette.
