Playing Doll City on the Oculus Rift CV1 using the 0.7/0.8 to 1.3 Runtime Wrapper.
33So you got your shiny new Oculus Rift and have already run through most of the launch content and might be asking yourself, " What do I do now?" Well thanks to a talented developer, Kalavaras, you can now play older demos and games using the 0.7/0.8 runtimes on the CV1. This all now works thanks to a wrapper that converts these titles to the newer 1.3 runtime. To test this, I went back and checked out The Doll City demo. I can't believe I let this one slip by. This demo is absolutely one of the freakin coolest things I have seen yet in the CV1! The art style and graphics are really well done! Doll City is a futuristic platformer set in a beautifully rendered Cyber Punk atmosphere. The lighting and particle effects scream that this was done in the Unreal Engine. Sound and music are also really well done in this demo. Doll City lets you experience the world in a few different perspectives such as toy scale or gigantic mode in either 3rd or 1rst person views. If you have not seen this one for yourself I highly recommend checking it out. Head over to the links at the bottom of this description and grab a copy of the runtime wrapper and this demo... you will not be disappointed. It runs on the DK2 natively and now on the CV1 thanks to this wrapper. The Doll City demo also says it has Vive support for those who might have that system.
