Wait. Wouldn't that be channel? Anyway, today's the 30th anniversary of the PS1 launch in North America, one of my favorite consoles growing up even though it didn't exist to kid Bean until the words Final Fantasy VII were mentioned. Figured it'd be neat to look back on the launch da... month's worth of games for a fun little set of short look vids here that I was 50/50 on doing longer runs of at some point. If only I was a streamer instead of a YT dude, huh?
Anyway, commentary is voiced for the series. I'll keep the footage around in case people want to also have a gameplay-only version. Besides, I needed a break from text boxes after MaGMML3 and the one-offs that were Sequel Wars and Dragon Quest II.
The very first game up is a near 20-month old port of a 3DO title called Total Eclipse. It actually broke the PS1 street date by a good week or two, launching in late August 1995 to try and get a leg up on other games at launch. The Turbo in this isn't exactly like the Turbo you'd see from Street Fighter II. We'll see why that can be good and not so good in this run. Oh, will we.
