Steps to start mariadb after install:

(1) configuring mariadb server:
sudo rm -rf /var/lib/mysql
sudo mariadb-install-db --user=mysql --basedir=/usr --datadir=/var/lib/mysql

(2) starting the mariadb server:
sudo systemctl start mariadb

(3) starting mariadb clients:
sudo mariadb
OR
sudo mysql

(4) show databases or tables
show databases;
use [databaseName];
show tables;

(5) if you wanna exit
exit
