Please Do This When Building Your PC - How To Enable XMP Extreme Memory Profile For Performance
When you're building your own PC for gaming or work, there's a very common thing people don't do and that enables XMP. XMP (Extreme memory profile) can be called different things for AMD motherboards such as D.O.C.P for ASUS AMD boards but behaves just like it does on INtel. When you buy say 3200MHz RAM, it will run at 2133 MHz (default DDR4 speeds) with loose timings unless you either enable XMP or manually go in and start adjusting the timings of the memory to increase performance.
XMP generally has a few different profiles and not turning on Extreme Memory Profile (or running the RAM at the right speed) obviously loses the performance benefits of faster RAM, but worse - you're not getting the extreme performance of the more expensive RAM that you paid for.
In this video I take you through how to enable XMP Extreme Memory Profile with both an AMD and an Intel motherboard and show a benchmark.
