Xirath:
Taking away Lazarus would result in him not having the same support. While he is close with Haisdiu, it's not the same. Lazarus and Xirath are way too close for Xirath to lose him. It would change him. Xirath would have no interest in seeking peace at all, from lacking the positive recognition, and when Aztoz would eventually reach them and teach Xirath about the truth, they'd only return to continue the cycle they're stuck in, and returning to living in his own trauma in a neverending loop.


Ezkar:
Lucielle was the first person to show him genuine care. Even from home, Ezkar has nothing to rely on. His parents aren't emotionally or physically available, and everyone else sees him as a celebrity and/or terrifying person. Lucielle just treated him as a normal person instead. Taking that away from him would only worsen his distance to his emotional system, and drag him down his father's path, which he desperately tried not to. Ezkar would only become the same cruel person his dad is.



Alovis:
Ethel is like the key to opening Alovis. Out of everything, Alovis fears loneliness and change the most. Ethel checks up on him almost every day, because if not, Alovis could be in danger due to his heart disease. Ethel treats Alovis with great care and an almost brotherly love. Alovis would shut out everything and everyone without Ethel. He'd die, with no one to help him. Alovis' self hatred is so bad, that he refuses to eat or drink, because he genuinely thinks he doesn't deserve it. His story would end too soon to begin without Ethel.


William:
Oswald is William's boss, but also serves as a sort of psychologist to him. Oswald always makes sure that William is alright, and never gives him too much to deal with at once, knowing William's mental state is very fragile. Although William has Pearl, he wouldn't tell her anything that bothered him. Eventually, it would get to his head, and his obsession with his work as a detective would affect him so much that he'd do anything to make the unbearable pain stop, even if it meant hurting someone, including himself.


(alternative to Nathan, if I took away Natasha from the beginning):
Although Nathan's older sister is dead, she played a huge part in who he is. Nathan has always been an emotionally unavailable kid. He doesn't lack empathy, but he doesn't know how to show it, and it only made his mental health worse along the years. Natasha was always there to help him out. She'd show him how to take care of people, and would talk to him about his feelings and inability to express them. Without her, Nathan would've become a much worse person than he his. It's likely that he'd have become a sociopath, and would continue to worsen the spreading, fatal virus as an attempt to take his own life.
