Pocky & Rocky / auto demonstration sequences / SNES 1993
Pocky & Rocky is a scrolling shooter video game made by Natsume who released it in 1993 for the Super Nintendo. The game is the sequel to the 1986 arcade game KiKi KaiKai and follows the adventures of a young Shinto shrine maiden named Pocky and her new companion, Rocky the Tanuki, also known as a raccoon dog. You see the action from top down above, and you move around throwing your weapon at enemies. Shooting a basket or killing a group of floating fireballs gets you a power up, which either restores health, powers up your weapon, gives you a shield, or gives you a bomb which damages all enemies on the screen. You also have two defensive moves, a dive move that lets you avoid enemy fire, and a shield move. A fun cute game that plays like a shoot em up.
