This Episode we take a look at a bazaar series, Viewtiful Joe. This is a wacky and fun series to play. These games are brutally hard. You have to learn how to do everything or you die a lot. You have to learn when it is best to Slow down time, or speed it up. This can be hard at 1st, but does become easier with practice. I’m not very good at this series yet. =P I die a lot. The game has a ton of great humor in it. It is what we need in an amazing Beat ‘em up. Even better, the 3rd title in the series is a multi-player beatdown. It’s crazy! I love playing this series and hope to see it on the PlayStation 4 PlayStation 2 re-releases.
The series started on the GameCube and PlayStation 2 in 2003. I remember playing this game for the 1st time and finding it to be crazy. I loved how it felt different then other Beat ‘em Ups. I was hooked. In 2004 the 2nd game came out and added some new features. The biggest one was a new Playable character. Silvia was now a playable hero. You can switch between the two when you want, as long as you have the energy to do so. Then in 2005 “Red Hot Rumble” came out to the GameCube and PSP. This is the game that took more of a “Smash Bros.” look. It isn’t easy, but fun to play at 4 players. Sadly, in 2005 the last game of the series came out. “Double Trouble!” came out for the Nintendo DS. This is a fun game and had some new features for the DS. The touch screen had some, even though it did not need them, and the game plays on both screens. The top screen is zoomed in and the game is played on the bottom screen. It’s fun. The best part about this series is that the Series Difficulty is the same in all games. It’s hard in every version. This is good. It should always be like this. In the end, we only have 4 games, but they are all worth playing. I hope you will give them a try.
