The Battle Pyramid can be a very hard attraction to complete if you don't have some good strategies. You can get the silver symbol with no problems but the gold one requires immense strategics. Some say it's good to have a fast pokemon to easily avoid wild pokemon but I used Ninjask and it didn't work out so I stopped with that plan. The way I see it, even with a fast pokemon your chances of escaping are random, speed isn't a factor like normally when you encounter wild pokemon. Run Away also doesn't always work. Your best bet is to collect as many items as possible on the early rounds and from there on try make teams that counter all the wild pokemon of the target round. Killing them in one hit or making sure they can't do anything to you. Smogon has a good list of the pokemon in each round and their moves. If you get a Choice Band or Sacred Ash consider yourself extremely lucky. I can't say for sure if this one is harder than the Pike cuz the Pike took me many tries, more than any other facility but am still planning for the gold symbol so I can't say for sure about the Pyramid.
