How to luck manipulate a good Chimchar for Pearl. This tutorial applies for Any% Glitched, I'm not sure if Rash or Grass Hidden Power is the best for Glitchless.

I'm using Desmume on this video. This can be done with a DS/3DS, but the timings for reseting, and pressing A on Gyarados are a bit different.

Desmume:

- Start new movie / Set Date: January 6, 2057, 22:30:45
- Press A when your timer is at 1:26.2 secs (5160 frames). I'm pretty sure it's not allowed to have the frame counter activated when speedrunning, so just check how long it takes your Desmume to reach frame 5160, for me it's around 86.2 seconds.

DS: (This timing might be inaccurate because I haven't tested it yet)

- Set Date to January 6, 2057, 22:30:00
- Sync a timer or something with your DS timer, so you can know the exact time your DS currently has.
- Start the game.
- When DS time is 22:30:45, reset the game, and start your timer.
- Press A when your timer is at 1:26.3 seconds (this might be inaccurate).

3DS: (This timing might be inaccurate because I don't own a 3DS, so I need someone to test it manually)

- If you're using wsplit, set delay timer to 41.7 (so timer starts counting at -41.7)
- Set Date to January 6, 2027, 22:30:00. As soon as you set the Date, start the timer.
- Start the game.
- When timer is 0.00, reset the game.
- Press A on Gyarados cutscene when timer is at 1:29.0 secs

Each line (-20, -19, ..., 18, 19, 20) is how much frames you were off. Each column (-2, -1, 0, 1, 2) is how much seconds you were off when reseting the game.

For example, if your trainer ID is 27784, it means you were 6 frames early (when pressing A on gyarados screen), and 1 second early (when reseting). Notice that the game runs at 30fps, so you should never be able to hit trainer IDs on line -19, -17, -15, -13.. etc (odd ones).
Also, for 3DS users, 3DS timer is a bit inaccurate, so it's very likely that you keep missing the correct second when reseting so often.

Specific movement you have to do to get the correct Chimchar is the same in Emulator, DS and 3DS.

HP: 24
Attack: 31
Defense: 28
Special Attack: 30
Special Defense: 31
Speed: 31

Nature: Rash
Hidden Power: Grass 66
