2001 Pokemon Promo Pokemon Center - N.Y. #40, Promotion - New York Pokémon Center Opening (November 2001)

Release information - This card was included in the Base Set with artwork by Keiji Kinebuchi, first released in the Japanese Expansion Pack. This print was reprinted in the Japanese Nivi City Gym and Yamabuki City Gym theme decks and the Base Set 2 expansion. The card was reprinted with different artwork by "Big Mama" Tagawa as one of the Wizards Black Star Promos, distributed at the November 2001 opening of Pokémon Center New York.

Wizards produced a total of 53 numbered Promotional cards before they lost their license. Had they kept their rights to produce the cards longer, it is likely more Promotional cards would have been produced, as the Vending Machine cards were a collection Wizards certainly planned to bring into English.
