Part 6 of my latest playthrough series of Pokémon Ruby Version. This is not a first time playthrough. I last played the full game a long time ago and wanted to play it again. I am playing the game to fully explore it and catch as many Pokémon as possible. No audio commentary. Full and uncut to give a feeling of a live experience. The videos in this series are like a longplay, but not in one single video. The series is done in separate parts because a single video would be too long/large for me, and YouTube limits the features of videos after a certain length.

Here are the video editing steps and equipment I used to make the videos in this playthrough series:

Video game hardware: Nintendo GameCube, GCHD Mk-II, HDMI cable, Game Boy Player with official software. Recorded at 480p.

Video capture device: Elgato Game Capture HD
Video and audio recording program: OBS Studio
Video editing programs: Avidemux

Software steps: The video was recorded at the resolution of 664x480. The dimensions of the video were then multiplied by 3 and borders were added to the left and right of the game image to be the 4:3 format. I chose to leave the Game Boy Player presentation as it was recorded and not isolate the game image for the final video because the final video becomes too blurry. The original file was recorded at a low quality, which makes the video in the file unclear when the game image’s size is increased. This video was encoded at the x264 Slow setting with a constant bitrate of 5,000.

I explore Hoenn’s eastern and southern routes, learn more about the story of Pokémon in this game, beat Team Magma, battle Groudon, and defeat the last two Pokémon Gyms.
