Part 7 of my latest playthrough series of Pokémon Ruby Version. This is not a first time playthrough. I last played the full game a long time ago and wanted to play it again. I am playing the game to fully explore it and catch as many Pokémon as possible. No audio commentary. Full and uncut to give a feeling of a live experience. The videos in this series are like a longplay, but not in one single video. The series is done in separate parts because a single video would be too long/large for me, and YouTube limits the features of videos after a certain length.

Here are the video editing steps and equipment I used to make the videos in this playthrough series:

Video game hardware: Nintendo GameCube, GCHD Mk-II, HDMI cable, Game Boy Player with official software. Recorded at 480p.

Video capture device: Elgato Game Capture HD
Video and audio recording program: OBS Studio
Video editing programs: ffmpeg, Avidemux

Software steps: This video was recorded as three separate video files because of live stream issues. Each video was recorded at 640x480. That was the canvas, and then the game’s video data signal from the video capture device was resized to be 640x448 on that. I edited the length for each video file and merged the audio and video for each of the three together in a sequential process to have one file with the sources. The dimensions of the merged video were then multiplied by 3 using the nearest neighbor procedure. I chose to leave the Game Boy Player presentation as it was recorded and not isolate the game image for the final video because the final video becomes too blurry. The original file was recorded at a low quality, which makes the video in the file unclear when the game image’s size is increased.

The reason that I had separate video files and had to get that to be one full video was because the livestreams on Twitch for this part disconnected a lot and caused the videos to have some issues. That is why the video here was recorded in three separate files. I recorded Part 7 over two days and the second half of the third video file had stuttering like Part 2 did. Unfortunately, the last ~2 hours of this video were originally from that file, so there is stuttering in this video and it is buggy. I have to fix the technical problems that were in many videos in this playthrough. This video also has music muted when battling Rayquaza because of a music claim.

I go to places that I had already been to get more items and to get other things done. I go through Victory Road, do three more Trick House puzzles and complete that part of the game, catch Pokémon that I knew and had not known in the game yet, get key items, battle the Pokémon League, and complete other parts of the game after the Pokémon League.
